Intellectual Orgy

OK, since it’s been about a friggin’ MONTH since I have updated my Thingie (Curse my work and life!) I decided that I would update everything since Kinkfest on… Well, everything that I can remember

KINKFEST — Long hours, stupid people, exhibitionism and yummy people — Must have been a kinky event in Portland! I ran the Hospitality Suite and didn’t do much else… frankly, it wasn’t too bad running the Suite and I think a lot of people had fun there… It meant that Doug and I had a free place to stay and lots of food available (Instead of paying the ungodly amounts for the hotel buffets)… I managed to embarrass myself totally by asking someone to play — AFTER the event was over *grin* PhantomMaster (Not his real name, OBVIOUSLY) is someone that I have secretly wanted to play with for ages, but never got around to propositioning… I finally did, but I am sure he’s forgotten by now, which is just as well (Yes, i really am that much of a dork)…

Anyhow, I saw lots of people that I enjoy visiting with, bought some cool toys, developed my singular topping technique (napkin snapping CAN be a topping technique!!), played a little, got to spend lots of time with Doug and I got to stay in a hotel room… how awesome is that?

SCOTTSDALE — My job has taken a turn for the better recently in that I am more and more involved in events planning and off-site meetings… The better my company is doing, the more often we get to go off-site for meetings… We had a big executive deely-bop in Scottsdale, AZ in April and it turned out GREAT… I got tons of compliments from everyone (CEOs and Presidents on down) and everyone felt well-cared for… Only 2 people were assholes and that helps considerably The weather worked out perfectly (attendees credited me for even arranging the weather *grin*) and the dinners were fab — not just the food, but the company, atmosphere and venues were great…

The sun was setting just as the group arrived for our dinner on Monday, so we had a beautiful backdrop of crimson skies over the lush greenery of the golf course as everyone enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner… The steaks were huge, the game hens savory and the Chilean Sea Bass was lucious… Dessert was to die for and then everyone was taken back to the hotel…

Tuesday night’s dinner was held at a swank wine bar and each seat had a lovely gift set as a memento of the event… we had a 4 course wine- pairings dinner where we were given a glass of wine and a little spiel about each type of wine and why it was chosen to go along with our meal… I am not a wine person, but I made a brave face and sipped a little with each course… the food was fabulous, the company was engaging (I had the hottie of the event across from me) and everyone had a great time…

All in all, the event was a smashing success and my boss came out of it looking like a king Next on the agenda is organizing a regional dinner for 20 in June (Need to find a venue) and then an offsite for my group in Las Vegas, Orlando or New Orleans (we haven’t decided where yet) — woo hoo!!! My boss says I can bring Doug, so it’ll be fun

DOMESTICITY — Doug has been a Modern Deity when it comes to my home life… he doesn’t push me to do housework cause he knows how stressed and busy i have been… he pampers me and cooks dinner on most nights… he lets me veg in front of the GameCube to play video games instead of doing house stuff… he buys me presents and showers me with affection… I am so lucky

Due to my recent bout of laziness, the house is a mess, but i hope to remedy that this week… maybe I will actually get to some serious cleaning like i have been wanting to!! woo hoo!

DIET AND EXERCISE — My diet and exercise plans have been going to Hell in a handbasket… I haven’t been eating right or exercising… I had a flash of motivation this weekend, so I think I am going to try to get Doug and I back on track… I am working on an incentive program to get us back on track and hopefully it’ll work…

On a whiny note, it’s REALLY hard for me to exercise when I can’t breathe properly!!! It really sucks that I have to keep my breathing and heart rate down to avoid wheezing like a 90-year old smoker with emphysema…

On a not so whiny note, I tried out my Yoga DVD and I rather like it I don’t feel so uncoordinated when doing it (like i do with Tae-bo or any aerobics/organized moving around)… I also like my pilates DVD, though i suck at it *grin*

FRIENDS — I am realllly happy that a friend of mine has moved back to the PNW… granted she is in a Seattle suburb, but 3 hours of driving is a HELLUVA lot better than 10 hours… If i can ever get off of my duff and call her, maybe I can arrange a visit

I have been hanging out with George more, which is awesome… even though his social life puts mine to shame, i still like hanging out with him *grin* We had fondue at his house a few nights ago and I introduced him to the wonderful world of chocolate and bread… If you have never tried the combination of fresh crusty French bread and good quality dark chocolate (milk choclate would work too), you don’t know what you are missing…

With my work schedule being what it was and my volunteer time for Kinkfest, spending time with my friends has been in short supply… I am hoping to remedy that in the near future… I did get to spend a whole day with Greyduck and that included some time to visit with Lil and Geoffrey and Merripan and the spawnage… hopefully i can do more of that kind of thing…

MISCELLANEOUS — Went to play Pinochle with Doug’s parents yesterday and that was so much fun! I love playing that game and his parents are so cool… Doug’s Dad and I were a team and we got our asses handed to us, but it was a really good time… I am also teaching Doug’s Dad some of the poker games that my family plays… hopefully we can do that sometime again soon

SEX — So my big theory about sex is not all that exciting… Greyduck already knows it even though he claims not to *grin*

My theory is that a woman is conditioned to enjoy sex the way that her first seriously happy relationship had sex… My ex who lives in Arizona and I hooked up while I was in Scottsdale and the sex was great… and it was due to that happening that I figured out that my body expects it to be good with him, so he has less of a chance of not making me happy… it’s a weird theory but i think it is true…

ROMANCE / DATING — Other than that guy (PhantomMaster) that i mentioned in the Kinkfest section, my romantic life has been pretty dull… I did play a little with a friend at Kinkfest and that was nice, but nothing serious… I had been going out occasionally with another friend, but i haven’t seen him since Kinkfest… I think i will call him and have us get together soon… to be honest, my “other-than-Doug” dating life sucks… I think my wants are too far out there to be fulfillable, so i am stuck…
