For those of you who don’t know me or don’t know me terribly well, here’s a tidbit of info that yo umay or may not have seen me say before…

I have obsessive-compulsive tendencies

Nothing debilitating or serious, just enough that when i get an idea, i tend to hang on to it…

My latest obsession is Firefly

Yeah, how many of you regular readers DIDN’T see that coming?

Anyhow, I am encouraging everyone who likes me even a little, to try the series out… If you like me a lot, go and buy the DVDs outright :)

The stories are good, the characters are great and the series deserves to be on TV, dammit!!! It’s really funny that Star Trek, a franchise that really reached the end of its life a few years ago, can still have a series running; while this awesome show got axed with less than a full season under its belt…

I am actually considering having a Firefly viewing party… Damn, I am a geek… How many people would be interested in coming to my house for that? I know that I have been trying to have a gathering at my house for a while now and this seems like something that I might be willing to jump behind and actually do…

I am fangirl, hear me roar!!

—————–

OK enough fangirl drooling…

As a side note, I have 6 invitations for Gmail – so if you have always wanted a Gmail account, send me an email and let me know…

I must go and drool over pictures of Kaylee, Wash and Mal (in that order) now…

Apologies all around to the various people I have not written to, called or seen in the past week or two… I know I owe some very important people some very important emails and calls, but I offer up the following as my excuse:

I suck.

That’s all… no other reason needed, you know?

Work is hella busy… Doug goes in for surgery on Thursday and will be out of commission for 3 weeks as far as going places or doing things… i’ll be taking care of him and hopefully it will all go smoothly…

Star-gazing was good… Need to do it again… The peace and quiet were a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the city… We saw some good stuff and i think everyone had a good time… next time, maybe we’ll bring more people and show off the cool laser pointer to them, too :)

That’s all I have for now… I’ll update again later!

I thought this was great…

Apparently a coalition of organizations that met in Utah recently, has declared a War on Pornography and the fine people at this website are doing their best to pull web hits AWAY from the actual cause and hopefully throw a monkey wrench in the machinations of that coalition that deems me likely to be a pedophile because I like porn.

Pooh on them!

Vegas was a total blast… The work stuff was OK — frustrating at some points, but I came away with some good ideas and information…

The Mandalay Bay is a swank hotel and if i were a silly person, I would spend the $200 per night that they want for a room… I have pictures of the room, but that will go up as soon as I can get the images uploaded to my gallery…

George and I had lots of fun and saw some really cool stuff and he was nice and let me take lots of pictures of him… We saw the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay and that was awesome… We also went over to the Las Vegas Hilton and went through the Star Trek Experience (which rocked, totally) and had dinner at Quark’s Bar (I have a picture of George with a Ferengi)… I made a total ass out of myself in the Borg one, but it was worth it… It scared the living crap out of me, but in that hysterical fun way :)

Monday I had meetings at the Mirage and Hard Rock Hotel… I got to see the dolphins at The Mirage, which was awesome… They are so damned cute and talented and neat looking… I have added “Dolphin” to my list of what I want to be when I grow up… At the Hard Rock, I got to see Ice-T from Law & Order: SVU which was interesting… I love the hotel, though… If I could afford it I would stay there everytime I go to Vegas :)

I did a good amount of good amount of gambling, though less than if I had been alone or with my family or Doug… George was very against our doing any gambling, but I got him to try a couple of nickel video slot machines (I did great – he did terrible, so he didn’t like those) and then I tried to get him to sit down at the Pai-Gow table with me… He was REALLY against doing that since he didn’t know how to play… so I went and bought a deck of cards and proceeded to teach him :)

We sat down at the table and I got $100 in chips and he got $40… 30 minutes later we had to go to dinner, but George was only down $5 and I was down $25… After dinner we went back and spent another 2 hours there and I walked away even and George came out with $85! He wants to go play again sometime *grin*

The next day I had another business meeting, which I finished early and had 5 hours to kill before I had to leave for the airport… I went to the Luxor and found a Pai-Gow table that I liked ($5 minimum is unheard of, but they had it) and sat there for 4.5 hours and played non-stop… I sat down with $100 and left with $155, so it wasn’t a bad run at all :)

Anyhow, I am back at work today and hopefully moving some stuff tonight, but we’ll see… Glad to be back in the gloomy rain after 4 days of 100+ temperatures in Vegas… Bleah!

Conversation Hearts — those weird sugary heart shaped “candies” in a box that taste like Pepto Bismol — are a classic Valentine’s Day thing… They are cheap and easy to give and most people just throw them away when they are given…. Personally, I like the way they taste and the texture (and yes, I like Pepto Bismol too) so I like to eat them… Plus, I like reading what they say…

Back in the old days (1982 was oh so long ago!), Conversation Hearts said things like “Be Mine”, “Cutie”, “Kiss Me” and the occasional “No way!” … Nowadays, the candy hearts say things like “Fax Me”, “Lover Boy” and “My Man”… They also say weird things like “Pen Pal”, “Wise Up” and “So Fine”… The ultimate in weirdness is the one I just found… on a delicate little green heart, the red lettering says:

“Book Club”

What the hell does that mean?

It is made obvious to me by this little candy that I shall never understand the wisdom of the Conversation Heart…

Had an interesting night… feeling really sleepy and kinda disjointed and that could be because of the big dinner I had and the volume at which i listened to my music on the way home… Yeah, I think that may have something to do with it… That and the choice of music…

Had a very cool series of emails on Tribe Dot Net with a photographer who is interested in getting together with me for a photo shoot… We found out that we have several friends and events in common and it was really quite serendipitous that we even started chatting at all… I think there are some great possibilities as far as working together and being friends…

Went out with GreyDuck tonight for PDA shopping and dinner… some very good conversation was had and some fun too… He also set me up with a web cam so I can start monitoring my cat while I am at work :) waaay cool… plus he set up a personal firewall for me… I love having my own personal IS guy :)

Bought Doug a very nice present at Toys R Us… OK, it was silly and stupid, but i thought it was cool and Doug liked it, so that’s what counts right? I also bought many greeting cards that were cool at the Hallmark store… I love greeting cards :) I could spend an hour in a card store just reading the cards and finding good ones to give to people…

I had the BEST ROAD RAGE experience ever… I was on Hwy 26 Eastbound and this jacked up truck is behind me and tailgating my ass like he wanted to crawl in my trunk… I, of course, got ticked off and slowed down to a little above the speed limit and let the car next to me start getting ahead… Asshole in the Truck took the bait and tried to get around me… Of course, I punched it and accelerated so he couldn’t get around me and had to slow down and get back behind me, which caused me to laugh and laugh and slow down again to just above the speed limit… Asshole in the Truck nearly crawled up my ass and so I tapped my brakes and was on the edge of throwing the car into a lower gear so i could slow down dramatically without having my brake lights come on when Asshole in the Truck decided to cut across traffic to the far lane and get around me… he proceeded to weave in and out of traffic like a madman til we lost sight of him… I was incredibly pleased… As I told GreyDuck, if I had a dick it would have been hard right then *grin*

Yes, I realize that kind of driving is dangerous to other people and all that, but frankly I was pissed off and wasn’t thinking about public safety… Bad Mari, yeah I know…

GreyDuck and I went to the Old Spaghetti Factory… Eavesdropped nicely on one conversation between a hot young chick and her guy… Actually, we only homed in on one phrase… The hottie said something about being friends with benefits and both GD and I kinda perked… It was amusing *grin* The other funny thing was the group of guys seated behind us… Why in the name of -Insert Deity Here- would a person on the Atkins Diet go to a pasta restaurant for dinner? WHY??? Stupid people… geez…

I am tired as hell and rather fucked in the head right now.. this ought to teach me about listening to music way too fucking loud while driving home…

Ba-wit-da-ba

Damn, I love that song.

So, a co-worker sent me a link to a quiz to find out if I am going to Hell… Gee, what do you all think?

The first time I took it, I failed to answer a couple of question correctly (I forgot or didn’t count specific events) and came up with 104… the second time i took it, I included all the events that could possibly be counted and I ended up at a whopping 137… Yowza!

Who else is gonna be on the Tour Bus to Hell with me? :)

Ding Dong! My car is dead!
It’s really dead;
It’s fucking dead!
Ding Dong! My stupid car is dead!

Yeah kids, it’s over… Unless the Dealership wants to give me credit and let me pay-off the car repairs in monthly installments, I am shit outta luck… Up a creek without a $2200 paddle… That’s how much the estimate is to fix my car and get it running again… We thought it was the headgasket, which is covered… It was actually the head cylinder, which is not covered unless the breakdown was caused by an internal lubricated part — which it wasn’t.

So, unless I want to learn how to walk everywhere or bum a ride off of Doug forever, I need to get my car fixed or buy a new one.

My life sucks.

On the silver lining side of things, I got my stitches out and the incision looks OK… so yippee-ky-yay!

Anyone want to give me a car for Christmas? How about $2200? Heh – it was worth asking *grin*

Today’s PPF hurts my brain. But because GreyDuck is who he is, i will do it…

Things rarely work out the way we originally intend for them to. This phenomenon is most obvious in the fields of technology and invention. Imagine what you would say to someone, assuming you had a way to send a message to the past, about what their creation has wrought in the world.

*blink* ahhh. hrm. Things that come to mind:

Television – Tell the guy who invented it about how people vegetate in front of it, use it as a babysitter and how children would be playing outside except for the pretty box with pictures that sits in their living rooms.

Peeps – These are just evil.

Spam – See the entry for Peeps

Jesus Christ – I’d ask him to make sure that he is quoted in the Bible as having said, “Killing and hurting people in My Name is BAD. People who hurt, persecute or discriminate against other people based on race, religion, sexual orientation or other differences because they think that My Father and I would support it are wrong. Just because someone doesn’t believe in me or doesn’t behave the way that I say that they should, doesn’t give you the right to hurt them.”

Allah – See the entry for Jesus Christ, substitute Koran for Bible.

Countless other deities – See the entry for Jesus Christ, substitute the appropriate religious text for Bible.

We’re all clever folks here. If you were suddenly imbued with inventive genius, what spectacular innovation would you create?

A Car that parallel parks itself. Or a Holodeck. Yeah. Holodecks are cool and not having to parallel park would be super!

It’s the year 2050 and you’re obligated to contact your friends and family to wish them well during the holiday season. (Why? Because you’re a nice person.) Back in the 90’s you might have used a cellular phone or perhaps electronic mail, but those days are long gone. Now you use… what?

by 2050, i figure that one of several realities will exist:

* The world will be a pile of smoking rubble, polluted and seriously de-populated. I would contact my family and friends through smoke signals, drum beats or similarly primitive means.

* The world will be an idyllic futuristic paradise and I will contact my family via holo-screens and other nifty things like that.

* The world will be psychically advanced and we will communicate via telepathy.

* The Borg will have assimilated us all and contacting them will be unnecessary, since they’ll all be right here in my head!!

* The world will be an idyllic paradise and I would contact my family and friends through smoke signals, drum beats or similarly primitive means.
heh heh.
