It’s 4:16 AM… I am at work… Yeah, life kinda sucks right now…

Big project, big event… Next Monday it’ll all be over, but for now, I am in before most people are awake… Can’t wait for it to be over…

OK, so I thought this comic strip at Sluggy Freelance was freaking hilarious… There are a number of reasons why the strip is funny, but the last 6 panels are what make this the perfect illustration of why I should not have children…

I had my first Firefly conversion last night… My friend George is always up for a new experience and was kind enough to come by to watch a little Firefly with me and Doug… I was figuring on showing him the pilot, and either Out of Gas or Objects in Space… But after watching the Pilot and Objects in Space, he was asking about the Reavers, so we showed him Bushwhacked as well…

He really enjoyed himself and I don’t think we’ll have a hard time talking him into watching more :)

Yay!

In other Firefly related news, there’s a guy who is offering $300 for 2 tickets to the Denver Preview of Serenity… Scary.

If anyone wants to pay that much for the Portland Show, Doug and I would probably be willing to sell our pair for that much *grin*

If it wasn’t for the fact that I was born in December, I’d swear I was an April Fool’s Baby. I am the most gullible person when it comes to some subjects that it’s kind of sad…

Coupled with the fact that I can never come up with good April Fool’s jokes just makes it worse…

Yes, I am lame.

For those of you who are very smart and/or observant, you may have noticed that my Thingie looks a little different… OK a lot different *grin*

We’ve moved me to a different publishing system since MT was just a spam-hole… ah well… With just a little tweaking, I suspect this will be as good as my old one… and even better in some ways because I can make password protected posts and junk… woo hoo!!

In other news, I won tickets to Duran Duran for tomorrow night… how funny is that? I never expect to win anything, especially anything that I actually want *grin* I am sure the tickets will be crap, but I am just glad to be going… Besides, if I win the backstage passes, I get a digital camera and how cool would that be?

I’ll try to be more vigilent about posting… I’ve been so distracted lately that I’ve been neglecting my Thingie…

Greyduck had this on his journal, so I had to copy it… I figured it would be amusing :) I wasn’t sure how to handle multiple entries in a single day, so I figured I would include the first sentence from the first entry on the first day of each month in 2004.

Wow! When I went to bed last night it was not even raining or close to freezing and when I woke up this morning, there was FOUR INCHES of snow out there!!! I am having a good self-esteem day… I have been feeling pretty low-energy lately, so, the fact that this weekend was jam-packed with activities was ironic to say the least… Well, I am in Scottsdale again… So, yesterday I had the chance to see Lilith and GreyDuck at a Poly gathering where I might also have seen my friend Edward… Don’t have much time lately as we’re moving… The house is looking better and I am feeling a little better… Saturday was a very good day for me… I know I have been absent from most of my usual on-line haunts and I wish that I had a good reason… I should make a category for politics… I have dated these entries to keep them at the top of my Thingie until Election Day. You would think that after 2 years of having this Thingie, I would be a little better about updating it…

Poo… My life (at least as it is reflected by my Thingie) is not very interesting :( Rats!

I can’t let the outcome of the election bring me down so much… With Measure 36 passing and President Bush being re-elected, my faith in the people of Oregon and the people of the United States is pretty low… With a Conservative Republican majority in Congress, a Conservative Republican for President and the Supreme Court leaning toward the right, I am truly worried about what will happen in the next 4 years…

In an AP story titled “White House Claims Mandate for Bush Agenda”, the writer talks about what Bush said he has planned for the next 4 years…

“He pledged to keep up the fight against terrorism, press for stable democracies in Iraq and Afghanistan, simplify the tax code, allow younger workers to invest some of their Social Security withholdings in the stock market, continue to raise accountability standards in public schools and “uphold our deepest values and family and faith.”

Other items include reforms to the nation’s intelligence community, halving the record $413 billion deficit, expanding health care coverage, a constitutional ban on gay marriage and moving “this goodhearted nation toward a culture of life.”

This shit scares me.

I do not share the President’s views on family or faith, so his aim to “uphold our deepest values and family and faith” worries me. His intention to continue the violence and death in Iraq in order to keep pushing for what he thinks is democracy in the Middle East worries me. His intention to ban gay marriage and his well-known opposition to abortion scare the ever-loving crap out of me.

I am hoping that there are enough liberals and moderates in Congress to stop him from carrying out these agenda items, but i can’t say that I have much hope. I tried to have faith in the good of people to do the right thing and vote down Measure 36 in Oregon… I tried to have faith that people would do the right thing and vote out George W. Bush and his conservative religious and corporate cronies…

I have been sorely disappointed on both counts.

I have never felt the effects of an election as strongly as I am feeling it today. And the feeling I am getting is not a good one.

I hope I am wrong. I hope that these things that I am concerned about never come to pass. I hope that I am proven WRONG by President Bush and that he will NOT betray the American people by continuing to erode our personal freedoms and our right to voice opinions. I hope that he will not take away a woman’s right to make a choice about her body. I hope that he will put aside his intention to write discrimination into the Constitution of the United States.

I hope these things, but the bitter taste of disappointment is still too fresh on my tongue to have very much hope at all.

Greyduck posted the link to this story and I just had to link to it, too… I can’t believe that this kind of thing happened… It’s even more distressing that the article says that the company in question “…has now moved on to Oregon where it is once again registering voters.”

That is just wrong. How pathetic.

If you want to make sure that you are registered to vote in Oregon, call your County Clerk and find out…

UPDATE

Apparently the unsavory practices may have made it to Oregon after all…

I was looknig for the lyrics to this song and I couldn’t find them… so i transcribed them as best I could…

FHQWHGADS
From Homestar Runner Dot Com

Come on fhqwhgads

I said come on fhqwhgads
Say come on fhqwhgads
Everybody to the limit
Everybody to the limit
Everybody come and fhqwhgads

I said come on fhqwhgads
Say come on fhqwhgads
Everybody to the limit
Who’s that?
It’s to the limit
Everybody come and fhqwhgads

(spoken)
Come on fhqwhgads
I see you jocking me
Trying to play like
You KNOW me

I’m like come on fhqwhgads
Say come on fhqwhgads
Everybody to the limit
The Cheat is to the limit
Everybody come and fhqwhgads

I said ooh ahh fhqwhgads
Say ooh ahh fhqwhgads
Who’s that f–h–qwhgads
I said who was that fhqwhgads

I don’t know who it is
But it probably is fhqwhgads
I asked my friend Joe
I asked my friend Jake
They said it was fhqwhgads

I said come on fhqwhgads
Say come on fhqwhgads
Who is to the limit?
Say “Me! I’m to the limit”
Everybody come and fhqwhgads

(spoken)
Man, fhqwhgads, you’re just making yourself look worse, you know?
Everybody’s just going to feel sorry for you
I mean, I do.
